Travel Packing
Travel Packing
Confession, I used to be awful at packing. I am talking wait till the very last minute and literally throw everything in a suitcase. I would have to sit on top of my bag to get it to zip. When I got to where I was going, my stuff was all wrinkled, all over the place and I would still feel like I forgot to pack the essentials.
This travel / packing hack has two parts to it.
Packing clothes / toiletries in general
Packing my essential oils
Let’s talk part 1: packing clothes and toiletries first. I believe in having good, solid suitcases to begin. My favorites are from the brands Away, Calpak & Beis. But let’s be honest, good luggage is expensive so if you aren’t into the spending the money on those trendy cases, you can browse TJ Maxx to score some cute luggage for way cheaper! Now my must have for packing is packing cubes. The brands I mentioned all sell their own, but I found mine on Amazon. I generally pack a cube for each “theme”: bathing suits in one, bralettes and underwear in one, casual clothes rolled in one, dress clothes in another. I will also pack a smaller cube with one outfit and a bathing suit, and I’ll keep this one in my carry on just incase my luggage gets lost along the way. When I get to my destination, I can unzip the cubes and place them directly in the drawers (I mean, do those things actually ever get disinfected) and everything stays organized.
My toiletries go in a travel case of their own. I totally have my eye on the Beis cosmetic case but for now, I use some I picked up from Ulta. I think it’s obvious but still important to say, buy travel sizes of your fave beauty products if they make them. My shampoo and conditioner is available in sample packets so I keep those on hand for traveling. But some of my other products like face wash only come in a large size so I bought some silicone containers and I only bring a little bit. I also limit the makeup that I bring and only pack the basics. I am not a girl who wears a ton of makeup normally but I tone it down even more on vacation.
Now for part two: packing my essential oils. I have this anxiety that I am going to be on vacation and need an oil that I left at home. But what am I supposed to do, bring my entire collection? I don’t think TSA would like that. So what’s a girl to do? Insert the sample bottles and the CD case from Oil Life. The case holds 49 sample sized bottles, plus it has padding and keeps the oils all organized. I pick whatever oils I think I will need and they get to come with me! I also bring OnGuard beadlets because there are too many germs while traveling. Oh and lots of TerraZyme because as hard as I try to stick to a good meal plan, you have to splurge on vacation. I pack my supplements in little craft baggies so I can grab and go. I also bring Ginger Drops to help me with my motion sickness. These have been a huge help! I always keep them in my bag closest to me for easy access along with my peppermint and anxiety oils. For a list of the exact oils I pack and why, read this blog.
